UA Local 50 is a prominent chapter of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry, serving Northwest Ohio, including metropolitan Toledo.
We are dedicated to representing skilled plumbers, steamfitters and service members, advocating for their rights and ensuring high standards of workmanship.
UA Local 50 provides its members with comprehensive training primarily through our registered apprenticeship program, equipping them with the necessary skills to excel in their careers without incurring large amounts of debt.

Train with Ohio’s finest
Apprentices receive a comprehensive training program designed to equip them with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the pipe trades industry.
This five-year training includes a blend of classroom instruction and hands-on experience, ensuring that apprentices gain a deep understanding of the trade.
Following the “earn-while-you-learn” model, you will work alongside experienced journeymen and industry experts. This prepares apprentices to tackle complex challenges and deliver high-quality workmanship.
Once individuals begin their apprenticeship, they will receive good wages and comprehensive healthcare. As apprentices continue to expand their skills, they will receive regular wage increases to match their increased knowledge.

Anyone interested in applying for our apprenticeship program must:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must complete and return the apprenticeship application within 10 business days with the following documentation:
- State Birth Certificate for proof of age
- High School grade transcript or GED certificate and official report of test results
- Social Security Card
- Drivers License or Picture I.D.
- Military transfer or discharge Form DD-214, if applicable
- Must appear for Mechanical Aptitude Test when notified. Notification is sent by Certified Mail.
- Must appear for an interview when notified. Notification is sent by Certified Mail.
